I have been hit recently with the fact that we are seriously messed up people. Let me explain. Over the past several weeks, I've had multiple conversations with people, especially young people, who are confused and torn up inside because they feel they must put on the persona that they are put together. As a Christian, they have been fed the lie that when they enter the church building, they must immediately put on a fake smile and come up with a few great lines that shows all around them that everything is a-okay. How sadly pathetic that we cannot be real with each other.
How comforting it is to know that we serve a God who knows we don't have to have it all put together before we approach His throne of grace and reconciliation. We can come to him and come just as we are. Praise GOD!
I'm quite tired of facads of having our outward "house" and the hedges around it completely well kept and manicured, when our inside is a filthy mess, dirty dishes and musty clothes piling up everywhere we walk.
Come as you are...come just as you are...and while you're at it, come with a heart that is willing to be molded and shaped and even challenged. None of us have arrived. Share you're struggles. I bet that the people you take for granted because they appear to be put together, are struggling or have struggled with some of the same things you have.
