My Mama's Birthday

When my mom was little she thought for sure that all the flags that were out around town were all out for her, in celebration of her birthday. Nowadays, I think my mom realizes that June 14th is not only her birthday, and a very special day at that, but it's also Flag Day.

This past Friday and Saturday afternoon, Josh and I were able to travel down to LC to visit the folks and celebrate mama's birthday! I won't tell you how old she is, because that may embarass her (she's 54), but I will tell you that my mother seems to just keep getting more and more radiantly beautiful as the years go by. And, it's so hard to believe that a mere 54 years have transpired since mama has entered this world. WOW!

While Dad and Josh went out for burgers and bowling, mom and I enjoyed a lovely high tea together at a new little tea house, south of where they live. Over savory scones, chocolate mint tea (decaf mind you), mini quiches and delightful little desserts, we laughed and shared and remembered.

The day before, mom and I wandered over to the mall and throughly enjoyed some all-girl time as we shopped. I felt like mom's personal shopper as I tried to find her some new colors and styles to try out! She's looking soooo fabulous!!

Mom has always been the biggest support in my life. She's mom and I could chat with her about all my little nuances growing up. As I've come into my adult years, now we get to be part of each other's lives as woman. Mama I love you dearly! You're always in my heart.
