Chance of a Lifetime

I'm watching the show the X Factor right now. A show which, like many other competitive reality shows, promises an individual the chance of a lifetime. On the show this year is a recovering addict, who literally entered the show days after getting out of rehab, a very talented 12 year old black girl with the most soul and passion I've seen in a singer in years, and a house wife whose father passed away the day she arrived at the competition.

These wanna-be stars desire a rags to riches story. Their willing to enter a competition even though their house is within five weeks of being auctioned off for the sake of saving their family. They feel this is their chance to make their difficult, maybe even average lives, something extraordinary!

These contestants desires are not a far cry from many people. I love seeing which contestants are sincerly gifted and have already overcome much in their lives to get them to where they are.
