Don't Sweat the Small Stuff

I'm a new mom, to a child that I did not birth into this world. As a new mom to a toddler, I'm constantly learning, loving and growing. Today I felt like I sweated some small stuff. She was tired, running on no nap and a bit irritable. I had just gotten her a brand new very cute winter hat and gloves. The hat had two little pom poms on the top. She looked adorable in it and couldn't wait to wear it. After helping her understand to make sure the hat and gloves end up in her cubby at school, I sent her off to school, fingers crossed that the new hat and gloves would make it home in one piece.

I guess it turns out that the other lesson that needed to be learned was: please don't rip the pom pom's off of the new hat! But, when the hat arrived home, missing one pom pom completely and the other one in her hand being played with, we got to have a nice little chat about taking care of our things!

For me, this was a lesson to not sweat the small stuff. I was bummed that a brand new hat was already ruined (fixable thankfully, but still). For her it was a lesson in taking care of our stuff and not allowing our friends to dismantle two pom pom's from a new cute hat!

Another day in the life...
