Once in a great while we escape as a family, away from our normal routines and obligations. Some good friends let us use their beautiful and very spacious beach house a few hours away. It was just what we needed. After a very busy couple of months, this was the perfect sort of family time.
We took time to read and snuggle...
I packed us our own food to make meals at the house, so we'd save some money and enjoy more time together. We were simple but it was totally fun to cook in a kitchen while overlooking the beautiful ocean.
Addy enjoyed helping her Daddy gear up her stroller for walks. She didn't really use the stroller much at all. This girl is a big time walker/runner these days.
We left the 85 plus degree weather in the city and loved the relief of the misty, foggy 65 degree beach weather. Hello coats and hoods!
Running to the beach!
Almost to the beach!!
Touching the sand!!!
Love this man...
I would like to note that the greyish, white-like particles of my husbands hair are not my fault. The ocean made him do it. The end.
Time for a snack!
We took Addy to the Sea Lion Caves for the first time. Josh and I remember going as kids with our families and remember it being much grander and more exciting than we found it as adults, especially with how expensive it was. But Addy LOVED it! She is still talking about "Ea Ion Caves."
Um, it was EXTREMELY WINDY
Piggy tails were FLYING!!!
Did I mention it was windy???
We saw a beautiful lighthouse...
Alice even drove...
Addy loved watching her Alice drive...
A swing set feet from the beach...heck yes!
Getting dirty in the sand...
OCEAN!!!
Addy got to take a bath in a fun Jacuzzi tub (without the jets on!)
We found a few fun coffee places. This was from a drive thru which served organic coffee and they made their own pastries! Observe the massive homemade maple bar...ohhhhh yeah!!! Oh, and it was still warm because they just baked it. Mmmmmmm...take me back! We enjoyed it when we stopped at a local farmers market and then took a walk.
We watched a boat driver have a hard time getting his boat in the water...
Josh showed Addy seaweed...
And we stopped to have dinner with Sittee and Jidu!!
What a fun time we had as a family! This is my kind of vacation. No where specific to be, just enjoying things at our own pace and time. So glad we were able to have this time and form these memories.
